Top tip – avoid a twisted skirt

Top tip – avoid a twisted skirt

Mrs Bowden’s top tip – avoid twisting!

Let's do the twist

Let’s do the twist

An indication that a skirt doesn’t fit you correctly or is off centre when you put it on is a twisted feeling with the side seams sneaking around. This week’s top tip is to help you sort this out without awkwardly having to contort in a mirror to see where your centre back seam is positioned.

When you have finished making your skirt, use a length of embroidery floss and sew a cross on the inside of the waistband at the centre front. This means when you next put your skirt on you can feel where the cross is (should be lined up with your tummy button) and then you will know you are straight!

Ps – just to clarify – I am very partial to doing the actual twist dance in which case I can straighten my skirt once the record has finished!
