Top tip – preparing to sew
I adore this excerpt from a 1949 Singer sewing manual and frankly agree with much of what is advised. However, this week’s top tip deals with more achievable and realistic preparations you can make prior to sewing.
Scissors – keep them handy by stringing them onto a length of ribbon and wearing them around your neck.
A wrist mounted pin cushion – brilliant when working on the stand or fitting a garment as the pins are just where you need them and your flow of concentration will not be interrupted by scrabbling around for pins.
Wear your tape measure – immediately makes you feel proficient and professional!
The hairdo and lipstick are optional but personally I do try and follow this……
